about me

I
recently moved to the SF Bay area to start my career in industrial
research. I'm a scientist, trained as a chemist, but I'm trying to
do some work related to post-CMOS electronics and other
aspects of new electronic materials.
I get to look at lots of interesting things related to molecular wires,
crystal lattices, and self-assembled electronic devices. It's
interesting to me because the field is a challenging combination of
molecular chemistry, solid state physics, device engineering, and
macro-economics; it's also an inherently collaborative effort in that no
one can do it all themselves. So it's fun to be part of a team. Originally I'm from Chicago, IL, but I've lived all over the US. My last two years of high school (1991-1992) were spent at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts (LSMSA), in Natchitoches, LA. Then I went to college at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA, did my PhD at Purdue in West Lafayette, IN, followed by a postdoc at Rice in Houston, TX. If you're a long lost friend, please drop me a line! In my spare time I like to watch old Italian movies, scan the nighttime skies for shooting stars, take spirited drives through the back roads, and build/break/fix things. I just got a time trial bike so I do rides on the weekends. I swim over at the Rinconada Pool in Palo Alto and usually try to cook something spicy on Sundays. Still trying to figure out how to make life a little bit less work-centric, but aren't we all. |
